Who can complete the distance of the famous American ‘Highway’, Route 66, during their club and training rides during 2016?

  1. Just two R66ers out today, Christine Smith with a 45 mile ride to Blaenavon has now put her just 2,000 feet of completing the whole challenge, and Shane Carey whose 50 mile ride to Monmouth has now put him over 30,000 feet climbed.

  2. Back from holiday’s so full updates are on. Couple of rides today saw Christine Smith getting ever closer to the magical 78,600 feet of climbing – just 4,000 feet to go. Also out was David Whittle with a 30 mile ride to Porthcawl. A catch-up for Helen Gilmore whose 81 mile trip to Bath, climbing 5,556 feet has seen her reach Holbrook, Arizona and pass the 1,600 mile mark.

  3. Catch up on the last couple of days. More rides from Steve Tobin, Tracey Eastabrook, Sue Earnshaw, David Vass and Janet Vale. Congratulations to the following; Sue on reaching Holbrook, Arizona; to Janet for reaching Springfield, Missouri; and to David for getting to Rolla, Missouri and passing 20,000 feet climbing.

    Just to make you aware, that I will be away for the next couple of weeks so the updates may be a bit sketchy, but I will do my best. Happy cycling.

  4. Another busy weekend on the road. Rides from Helena Hunt and Francesca Cooper saw them complete the Taff Trail, couple of rides from Tony Griffiths and also out were Sue Earnshaw, Diane Potter and Shane Carey. Sue efforts have seen her pass the 70,000 feet climbed; Tony getting to the New Mexico State Line; Helena reaching Clinton. Oklahoma and clearing 900 miles; Francesca in topping 40,000 feet climbed; and Shane passing 25,000 feet of climbing.

  5. Had a busy few days so here is a catch-up on what has happened over the last week. Couple of rides from Christine Smith has moved her ever closer to achieving the climbing goal; big ride from Diane Potter, climbing Caerphilly mountain twice which has seen her reach Springfield, Missouri; Rob Stallard’s trip up Wentwood has moved him into 3rd place, achieving 1,600 miles and 40,000 feet in climbing; and Shane Carey reaching Miami, Oklahoma and passing the 600 mile barrier.

  6. Few more rides over the last couple of days. Pride of place must go to Gareth Davies following the full Ironman course at Horwick, somewhere up north for 101 miles. This put Gareth through Santa Rose, New Mexico and rises him up to 5th place. Also out where Christine Smith knocking up the climbing feet, also Robert Stallard with a 23 mile MTB ride up Wentwood. John and Kaf Faragher also moved along with Kaf reaching Springfield, illinois.

  7. A rainy day, did not stop some of the 66ers getting out on their bikes. Biggest rides going to Carolyn and Tony Griffiths, and Grahame Morton with a 48 mile ride to Ewyas Harold. This ride put Tony over the 40,000 feet in climbing, Carolyn reaching Springfield, Missouri, and topping the 20,000 feet mark. Grahame has reached 10,000 feet. Also out were Christine Smith who has passed the 60,000 feet climbing; David Whittle with a catch-up from yesterday; and Tracey Eastabrook who has set the fastest ride for a woman this year, and also passed the 500 mile mark.

  8. The latest CMCCC Pub ride saw more Route 66 miles put in. Rob Stallard whose pub ride +, saw him add an extra 31 miles to his tally, which has seen him pass the Arizona State Line and reach the city of Holbrook; Helen Gilmore, Tony Griffiths, Carolyn Griffiths, Sharon Ward and Grahame Morton added another 14 miles, whilst Janet Vale put on another 10 miles. Tony has now reached Amarillo, Texas and passed the 1,100 mile barrier. Grahame has cycled passed the Missouri State Line and reached St. Louis. Also out today with two rides was Christine Smith, although she has completed the number of miles, she is still racking up climbing feet.

  9. Big news, the first one to cross America and complete the mileage of Route 66 is Christine Smith. She has completed the ride of 2,277 miles in less than six months, awesome effort. Also out putting the miles in was Helena Hunt with a 40 miler to Llandrindod Wells; David Whittle with a visit to the beach at Aberavon sees him reach Oklahoma City and also 25,000 feet climbing; Shane Carey who has climbed 20,000 feet and Tony Griffiths with a swift 15 miler to Magor.

  10. Lots of catch-up rides today – Neil and Helen Gilmore has a 38 mile ride to Monmouth that sees Neil pass the 500 mile barrier. Big catch-up from John and Kaf Faragher who have both passed the 200 mile mark, with John reaching Springfield, Illinois and Kaf passing through Pontiac, Illinois. More rides across the bridge for Janet Vale who has achieved 25,000 feet in climbing and has passed the 500 mile mark.Also out improving his score was Robert Stallard with a 28 miler to Shirenewton.
